Arlington Master's Velo Club Presented by DND, Inc.

Purpose:  To foster participation in amateur bicycle racing and to promote development,
          learning, camaraderie, and enjoyment of the sport.

Membership: Two types of memberships are available to those of all ages:

          1. Club is open to any USCF licensed rider, approved by the Club president, who want
             to race on an occasional basis.

          2. Team is limited to 20 riders who want to race regularly and  participate in team
             activities.

Qualities of Team Members: Good attitude. Potential and desire to be successful in races.
          Willingness to train and work with the team.

History: AMVC was founded in 1989 by Geoff White and Norm Woodley and originally sponsored
          by the Spokes, Etc. bicycle shops. Past riders of note include former National masters
          champion John Epting,  Olympic team member Bob Schneider, and former National pursuit
          record holder Ron Sutherland. Dr. Doug Foster, MD picked up sponsorship in 1997. Most
          of our current members began as, and continue to ride with Potomac Pedalers Touring Club.

Team Goals:  Top 15 in District 20 (D20) Team BAR. Field 2 teams in District TTT.  Win
          District road race, track, and TT medals.  Place riders in top 10  in District BAR. Field
          team(s) and finish respectably at the National Championships and regional stage races.
          Have a challenging and enjoyable season.

Individual Goals: Each team rider should make a sincere effort  to reach or exceed the
          following individual goals:

          1. Compete in at least seven races each season, including at least one D20 Championship
             event. At least three of the seven races should be criteriums, and four should be
             master's events (if rider is eligible and races are available).

          2. Earn at least 15 D20 BAR points. For riders competing in the team trial at D20 Time
             Trial Championships, the rider's share of points from the TTT (e.g.: 1/4 for 4 person
             team) will count towards the 15 point  goal.

Individual Objectives: Each rider should follow a yearly training plan, such as that
             described in The Cyclist's Training Bible, by Joe Friel. The Team Director and Coach
             will assist riders needing help putting together their individual plan.

Rider Benefits:  Team members will receive the following: reimbursement for 50% of entry
             fees at least 10 races per season, excluding late fees;  $20 toward uniform. 10%
             discount from Spokes, Etc bicycle shops.  As budget allows, bonuses for significant
             accomplishments

Rider Responsibilities:  Riders will strive work as a team, and follow the custom of
             splitting cash prizes equally among other team riders in that race and category. Each
             rider will help support the club promoted race events.

Dues: $15 per year.

Team Training Rides: Will include VA-AA/AX rides, cross training, and fast rides with other
             clubs.

Team Events:  Clinics on bumping, sprinting, cornering, time trialing, descending throughout
             the year. Promote Catoctin Creek Time Trial, Waterford VA  and D20 Track Title Race,
             Trexlertown PA, in August.
